Key Ingredients and Why They Work
Rosemary Essential Oil
Rosemary is the standout ingredient here. It has been used traditionally for centuries for hair growth and scalp health, and in recent years the clinical evidence has caught up significantly. A 2023 randomised controlled trial published in Skinmed found rosemary oil to be as effective as 2% minoxidil in promoting hair growth -- with fewer side effects. Separate research has identified benefits in androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss in both men and women). We include rosemary at a meaningful concentration, not as a token addition.
Argan Oil
Cold-pressed from the kernels of the Moroccan argan tree. A light, non-greasy oil that penetrates the hair shaft rather than sitting on top of it, nourishing from within and relieving frizz and dryness. Rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids and vitamin E.
Grape Seed Oil
One of the lightest carrier oils available -- adds shine and tames flyaways without weighing hair down. Also stimulates scalp circulation, which supports healthy hair follicle function.
Sweet Almond Seed Oil
Rich in biotin, which supports the production of keratin -- the structural protein that makes up the hair shaft. Particularly useful for fine, thinning or brittle hair. Please note: contains tree nut derivatives. Not suitable for those with nut allergies.
Jojoba Seed Oil
Technically a liquid wax rather than an oil, jojoba closely mimics the scalp's natural sebum. Rich in vitamins C, B and E, and minerals including copper and zinc -- all essential for healthy hair growth and scalp condition.
Castor Seed Oil
Antibacterial and antifungal. Moisturises and soothes the scalp and is thought to stimulate blood flow to hair follicles, supporting growth and reducing shedding. A traditional treatment for thinning and slow-growing hair.
Lavender Essential Oil
Well documented for its benefits in scalp health -- regular application helps treat dandruff, improves hair texture, conditions hair follicles, reduces frizz and helps control hair fall. Works synergistically with rosemary for a combined scalp-balancing effect.
How to Use -- Less Is Always More
The most common mistake with oil serums is using too much. Start with less than you think you need.
1. On towel-dried hair after washing
Dispense 2-3 drops into the palm of your hand (not directly onto hair). Rub palms together to warm and disperse the serum, then work through damp hair from mid-lengths to ends. Use one or two additional drops only if your hair is very long or thick. Do not apply to roots.
2. As a finishing touch on dry hair
One drop only -- rub between palms to create the thinnest possible layer, then glide lightly over the surface of styled hair to tame flyaways and add shine. Less is genuinely more here.
3. As an overnight scalp and hair treatment
Apply 4-5 drops to dry hair and massage into the scalp with fingertips. Work through the lengths. Protect your pillow with a towel or old pillowcase, leave overnight, and wash out in the morning. Use weekly for best results.
A Note on Greasiness
If your hair feels heavy or greasy after use, you have used too much -- this is the most common first-time experience and is easily corrected. Scale back to 1-2 drops and emulsify thoroughly between your palms before applying. With the correct amount, the serum absorbs cleanly and leaves no residue.

Can this help with hair thinning or loss?
Rosemary essential oil has a growing body of clinical evidence behind it for hair growth and scalp health, including a 2023 trial finding it as effective as 2% minoxidil for androgenetic alopecia. We make no medical claims, but the ingredient is included at a meaningful concentration and the evidence for it is genuine. Results with any hair treatment take time -- allow at least 8-12 weeks of consistent use before assessing.
Is this suitable for curly hair?
Yes -- it's particularly well suited to curly hair. The lightweight argan and grape seed oils provide nourishment and frizz control without the heaviness that can disrupt curl definition. Will it make my hair greasy?
Only if you use too much -- which is easy to do the first time. Start with 2 drops maximum and emulsify between your palms before applying. With the correct amount it absorbs cleanly and leaves no greasy residue.
Is this suitable for fine hair?
Yes, with care on quantity. Use only 1-2 drops and apply to ends only, avoiding roots entirely. The grape seed oil is particularly appropriate for fine hair as one of the lightest carrier oils available.

We are currently unable to accept returns for our items unless they are damaged and hence unuseable.
If your order is damaged, please contact us within 14 days and we will send a replacement or offer a refund. Please get in touch with a photograph of your damaged product and we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund or replacement.
If a refund is the way forward, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days. Alternatively, we will send out a replacement item to be arranged with you.

Very heavy compared to other hair oils I have used. My hair is very dry and normally responds well to hair oils but this left my haur very lank and greasy even using a small amount.

Smells lovely but I found it a little too heavy for my hair, even just a couple of drops made my hair look greasy. I have a bob haircut which is prone to frizziness but I just found this serum too rich. I think if you have long hair or curly hair it would be ideal.
