Our Cruelty-Free Promise
At Cosy Cottage, cruelty-free isn't a marketing badge but a founding principle that has never wavered since the day we started and never will.
We never test on animals
No Cosy Cottage product has ever been tested on animals. Not by us, not by any third party acting on our behalf, and not at any stage of development or production. This is an absolute commitment, with no exceptions.
We never commission third-party animal testing
Some brands claim to be cruelty-free while outsourcing animal testing to third parties. We don't. If a supplier or partner were to require animal testing at any point in the supply chain, we would not work with them.
We don't use the 'manufacturing safety' loophole
When the UK banned cosmetic animal testing, some brands continued to permit it under a little-known exemption, arguing that testing was necessary to ensure the safety of ingredients for the people manufacturing them, rather than for consumers. We believe this is a loophole that contradicts the spirit of the ban entirely.
At Cosy Cottage, we do not use this exemption. Our commitment to cruelty-free means exactly that: No Animal Testing, for any reason, at any stage.
We don't export to markets that require animal testing
Certain countries require animal testing as a condition of importing cosmetics. We refuse to sell into those markets. We believe that no commercial opportunity is worth compromising our values and we think our customers and partners would expect nothing less.
Why this matters
The global cosmetics industry is moving towards cruelty-free practices, but progress is uneven. By choosing Cosy Cottage, you're supporting a brand that has always put animal welfare above market access or commercial gain.
Our products are natural, formulated and made in North Yorkshire, and created without compromise, for people who care about what comes into their home, goes on their skin and how it got there.
