The Story Behind This Soap
Cosy Cottage Soap was founded shortly after our founder Clara recovered from breast cancer. This soap was one of the first she developed, created in partnership with a Leeds-based cancer support charity whose members were going through treatment. Many people undergoing radiotherapy found that conventional soaps and shower gels were too harsh and irritating for their skin during and after treatment, and this fragrance-free, additive-free bar was developed specifically to be gentle enough for skin in that condition.
We make no medical claims. But the feedback from people going through cancer treatment, as well as from those with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and other sensitive skin conditions, has been consistently and genuinely moving. If you or someone you love is going through a difficult time and looking for a soap that is truly kind to skin, this is the one we would recommend.
What Makes This Soap Different?
No sulphates, no detergents, no added foaming agents, no fragrance and no artificial anything. Our Gentle Aloe Vera soap is handmade in small, waste-free batches in Malton, Yorkshire, from a careful blend of coconut oil, olive oil and beeswax with natural aloe vera juice, in exactly the right proportions to foam beautifully all by themselves. The result is an exceptionally gentle, creamy lather that cleanses without stripping, irritating or drying even the most sensitive skin.
Why Aloe Vera?
Aloe vera juice is renowned for its moisturising and soothing properties, and ours is the real thing, not a synthetic substitute. Completely fragrance free, with no artificial colours or perfumes, this bar lets your skin breathe and recover. Particularly well suited to dry, reactive, eczema-prone and problem skin, and to anyone who has found that conventional soaps and shower gels leave their skin sore, tight or irritated.

Is this soap suitable for skin during or after cancer treatment?
This soap was originally developed in partnership with a cancer support charity for people whose skin was sensitised by radiotherapy. It is fragrance free, SLS free and made from natural ingredients with no artificial additives. We cannot make medical claims, and we would always encourage you to check with your medical team before introducing new products during treatment. But it has been used and valued by many people in exactly this situation.
Is this soap suitable for eczema-prone or very sensitive skin?
Yes. This soap is completely fragrance free and made from natural ingredients with no SLS, sulphates, parabens or artificial additives. It is our gentlest formulation and has been specifically chosen by many customers with eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and reactive skin.
Is this soap suitable for the face?
Yes, it is one of our most popular soaps for facial cleansing, particularly for those with sensitive or reactive facial skin. Being completely fragrance free makes it especially suitable for use around the eyes and on delicate skin.
Is this soap suitable for babies and children?
The fragrance-free, natural formulation makes it a popular choice for parents of children with sensitive skin. As with all products, check the ingredients list and patch test before use on very young or reactive skin.
How long will a bar last?
A 55g bar will typically last three to four weeks with daily use. A 110g bar will last six to eight weeks. Keep it on a well-draining soap dish between uses to extend its life.
Do EU orders incur extra charges on delivery?
No. All relevant duties and taxes for EU orders are collected at checkout, so you will not face any unexpected charges on delivery.

RETURN POLICY
We are currently unable to accept returns for our items unless they are damaged and hence unuseable.
If your order is damaged, please contact us within 14 days and we will send a replacement or offer a refund. Please get in touch with a photograph of your damaged product and we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund or replacement.
If a refund is the way forward, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days. Alternatively, we will send out a replacement item to be arranged with you.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your replacement product to reach you may vary.
