The 55g shampoo bars are 100% sulphate free, additive free, palm oil free, cruelty free, plastic free, they're suitable for vegans and 100% natural. All our packaging is plastic free; either fully recyclable cardboard or made from plant derived materials. Alternatively you may choose to receive your shampoo bars free from any packaging.

We manufacture our products in small, waste-free batches in the beautiful market town of Malton, Yorkshire in the UK.

These shampoo bars can help to reduce the 36 million plastic bottles used EVERY DAY in the UK because they completely eliminate the need for plastic packaging. Plastic makes up 80% of the waste found on beaches around the world and over 300,000 tonnes of debris that floats in our oceans.

Each shampoo bar lasts longer than your average bottle of shampoo as we do not add water to our products. You will find you need much less than high street detergent-based shampoos; a little goes a very long way.

Our natural shampoo bar now comes in three fragrance options:

- The original fragrance-free formulation is extra gentle for sensitive scalps

- The lemongrass essential oil fragranced variation smells fresh and energizing. Lemongrass essential oil is said to balance excess oil production - we've had some great feedback from our trial bars and you can read it here

- The lavender essential oil fragranced version smells beautiful, relaxing and calming. Lavender essential oil is said to help with itchy, flaky scalp - we've had some great feedback from our trial bars and you can read it here

You will find you don't need as much product as liquid, detergent-based shampoos to clean your hair. Simply lather the solid shampoo bar in your hands and then apply to your hair as you would a liquid shampoo, before rinsing out very thoroughly and repeating.

Completely amazing!!

I ordered a shampoo bar with little hope that it would actually work. I thought there is no way this will work with such a clean list of ingredients! But oh my was I wrong. The first few washes I had no luck and my hair was left waxy and gross. Then I read the blog post you recommend about transitioning to a natural hair care routine. I tried the bicarbonate of soda rinse to rise my hair of any build up from other hair care products before washing and what a difference!! I washed with the shampoo bar and applied an apple cider vinegar rinse and my hair is the softest it has ever been!! I love, love love every product I have tried from cozy cottage. It is such a lovely feeling to pamper yourself but knowing you are genuinely looking after your body with clean ingredients. You most definitely have a customer for life in me! I am moving abroad soon but you bet I will be stocking up my suitcase with cozy cottage products every time I'm back in the UK. Thank you so so much for creating such wonderful products xx

A sticky experience

I was sent the shampoo bar that contained almond oil in error, instead of the lemongrass shampoo bar, and as I had already opened it in my excitement at smelling the lemongrass aroma, I was not able to return it , unfortunately. I decided to try it , anyway as the sun has been making my hair dryer than normal. Sadly it left me with very oily hair even though I rinsed it well afterwards, and all day my hair felt lank and sticky. It may suit someone looking for a deep conditioning shampoo for very dry frizzy hair, but for me it was a very disappointing effect. I have fine hair that can be greasy near the roots and dry at the ends.

Best shampoo bar I've used!

I bought the fragrance free bar and my husband and I both love it. It works well and you only need a surprisingly small amount. I'm very pleased with this. I also love that it's all natural ingredients and its made and shipped in a sustainable way. Good for me and good for the planet!

great soap for facial use

I have used this soap endlessly. It is so gentle on my face, and I just love it.
