The Benefits of Taking a Break

Our latest 3 product releases are all inspired by summer and/or travel. Our Travel Soap Set is perfect for holidays abroad, staycations at home and treating guests staying with you. Similarly, the Travel Tin features everything you need to be set for summer including a beautiful reusable tin. Finally, our Geranium Gift Box features our popular geranium products which are naturally fragranced as if you were in a garden on a warm summers evening. It even features a 100g bar of delicious Orange and Geranium Choc Affair Chocolate. Yes, we have had to do some serious taste testing here at HQ! Choc Affair handmake their chocolates here in York from sustainable ingredients. You won't find palm oil in any of the products here.

As we are feeling very inspired by all of our new products to pack the car and go explore for a few days, we have compiled some very compelling reasons to jet off. Feel free to take a look below but be warned, it may persuade you to book a getaway as a holiday is exactly what the doctor ordered!

1. Clear your mind

When you start planning a holiday or trip away, even if you don’t actually end up taking one, it can improve your frame of mind. When we are busy in the flow of everyday life, stresses and hormones can build up which, depending on the person, can manifest themselves in colds, headaches or lack of sleep. The distraction and recovery period caused by planning and (fingers crossed) eventually going on your holiday is enough to restore your mood.

Being in the fresh air and spending more time outdoors can also alleviate anxieties and stresses from everyday. One of the most common deficiencies in the western world is vitamin D due to the fact we produce the vitamin rather than finding it in our foods.

2. Make you more productive and creative

Spending time in nature can also improve your creativity, providing a boost to your productivity alongside it. If you've heard of or taken part in walking meetings then this is the theory behind the madness!

Breaking away from your routine is another method to reigniting your creativity. This can be done on a much more simple level such as parking in a different spot to the usual one. On holiday, this experience is accelerated with every day offering something new and different.

If you ever feel like you are running out of juice, a trip away (even just for 24 hours) is the tonic. By hitting refresh and recharging your batteries, even on a more activity based holiday, you will return rejuvenated and revitalised.

3. Improve your physical health

The more holidays you have, the less you stress which can have a huge impact on your physical health. One American study found that men who didn't take a holiday for several years were 30% more likely to suffer from a heart attack than those who did.

4. Experience new things & people

This one goes without saying. By getting away or taking some time off at home you are opening yourself up to meeting more people and experiencing new things. In turn, this can increase life satisfaction and improve your mental wellbeing.

We hope you enjoyed this week's read! Now to book the holiday/festival/staycation...
